Abstract

El texto destaca el modo por el cual la enseñanza técnica fue debatida en artículos e informes de viaje publicados en las revistas The American Journal of Education (AJE) y O Novo Mundo: Periódico Ilustrado do Progresso da Edade. En el AJE fue analizado parte del informe viaje de Henry Barnard, editor de AJE, a países europeos. En la revista O Novo Mundo fueron considerados artículos de André Rebouças con propuestas relacionadas con la enseñanza técnica brasilera. En ambos se observaron indicios de que la enseñanza técnica tenía como público las capas de población económicamente menos favorecidas, y que ese debate señalaba preocupaciones con respecto al desarrollo de las industrias y las formas de acceso al mercado en la dinámica del capitalismo.
