At the beginning of 1810 two crown officers clashed violently for the office of subdelegado de la Puna. We analyze this conflict to understand how and who exercised political power in the Puna region. In this sense, we wonder what situation led to two officials claiming the same position and confronting him with the force of arms. Who were these sub-delegates and what role played the rest of the political-administrative authorities of Salta and the Marqués del Valle de Tojo, are some of the questions that we also ask ourselves on the subject.
