Abstract

The distrust of socio-economic explanations of historical change and the growing interest in cultural interpretations of the present and the past are part of the recent changes in the field of historiography. Skepticism about the possibility of capturing broader structures and processes and using them to explain actions, careers and events. That vocation-dramatic representations, "apparently the only way of receiving the historical processes of large sectors of society, was fully supported by proposals in love with those vestiges of a symbolic nature framed by unique local events. The new narrative styles did the rest. This paper is an approach to recent historiographical debates in the field of social history, its impact on the family history, and how new paradigms put pressure on social practices and representations in the process of structural change.
