Abstract

This article analizes some aspects regarding the cultural study of contemporary popular music. First, I affirm that music, culture and society are inextrincably connected. For this purpose, I present ideas and characterizations coming from different researchers and perspectives. After that, I expose some key elements through which it becomes possible to study popular music and I propose a definition of popular music, In this ocassion, this definition is link to technological and media elements, which I think significativily contribute to the ways music make and construct sense.
