Abstract

The situation of regional and local historiography in Latin America has made progress in recent decades, though not as much as desired, because although there are countries with a long way journey, most are just starting this work. The contemporary New Regional and Local Historiography in Latin America, characterized by a more complete definition and awareness of regional issues facing the traditional local history, began giving attention to its main subject of study, the conceptual definition of the region. It is imperative to note that while the main perspective to regionalists is the regional history, parallel must all contribute effectively to the writing of true national history.
