Abstract

This dossier is composed of collaborations whose theoretical and methodological concerns explore a vast universe that is structured by ideas, social subjects and healing practices which are typical of certain therapeutic markets of the 19th and 20th centuries.

As the reader will see, this compendium presents seven papers, each of which discusses the itineraries of people who made use of multiple resources - and developed varied strategies - to apply cures of various kinds and to improve the health conditions of the population in Argentina and Brazil. Convergently these contributions place in analytical perspective the interconnections and ties between knowledge, materialities and therapeutic activities that are discussed on both sides of the Atlantic and that have been considered particularly rich.
