In the more recently created provinces, such as La Pampa, universities have been crucial to understand the processes of emergence and state consolidation. The provincialization of the National Territory, the organization of the new province in 1951 and the creation of the Provincial University in 1958 were part of a process that had mutual influences and interdependencies. In this framework, the objective of this study is to analyze the intellectual positions on the region wielded by academics involved in the process of creating the local university and its articulations with the regional social and political context.
