Abstract

The Federación Obrera Local Rosarina was a local
branch of the Federación Obrera Regional Argentina; it was
founded in August 1902, and it grew in organization and capacity
of direct action becoming a key actor in the first quarter of 1907,
the most intense year of workers' conflict against both capital
and authorities. The article seeks to explain both its functioning
and its positions through the analysis of two milestones, the
general strike in January and the Merger Congress of the workers'
movement in March. As it did not have its own permanent press,
most of the information comes from two sources, La Protesta,
a classic anarchist newspaper edited in Buenos Aires and the
Rosario newspaper El Municipio which covered the events with
remarkable detail.
