Abstract

This article proposes to compare population dynamics and movements in Jujuy cities that where on railway route in three moments of railway development: the arrival of railway to Jujuy, its nationalization during the first peronism and its privatization (which in Jujuy was practically equal to its dismantling). The objective is to analyse how railways influenced in the birth or growth of certain towns and cities and how could its privatization affect them in an opposite way. Although population movements depend on various factors, being the railway only one of them, this article tries to perform a correlational approach, not seeking for causalities, looking at the relation between population changes and railway history in Jujuy.
