Abstract

This paper analyzes the housing conditions of the province of Jujuy in the first half of the twentieth century. The housing issue has been widely explored by extensive studies that focused their comments on the major cities of the center of the country, especially Buenos Aires. Consequently, little is known about the characteristics of housing during that period in other regions, such as the Northwest. In order to complement this gap, primarily based on review of census data, this study tries to rescue Jujuy´s experience and also to confront it with the realities that other provinces had, especially those close to it. The results also seek to be articulated at that national level knowledge and, where possible, also be discussed.
